I have a VW Golf 1.6 DSG engine CAYC and DQ200 gearbox that has covered over 80,000 miles, I can confirm you have a 'sealed for life' gearbox and the gearbox oil or filter does not need changing. Having said that there was a recall ( VW call recalls campaign's) for gearbox oil change, check in the boot for campaign action sticker 34F6. The shop is open 7:30 am to 5pm, So 7:30am friday to 11.30am monday, equals 23 hours to do less than 3 hours work. (Friday, Saturday, closed sunday, Monday) I guess i should not be upset, when i had an oil change "scheduled", Which took 5 hours to do maybe i should have known not to take it back to them. Usually, this happens every 9 to 12 months after the accumulation of a track day or two, lots of autocrosses, and the usual DD duty that the car is subjected to. If a dealer wants $400 just for the DSG service alone I hope they offer some foreplay to go along with it.That interval only changed for the 7 speed DSG units in mk7.5's. The 6 speed DSG Is still 40k kms. The 7 Speed DSG fluid change is also more expensive, which doesn't make sense as it's the same process
The 40k is the first expensive service interval. Last I checked, DIY the DSG service for about $120 and oil change, fuel, air, and cabin filters for another $100 in parts. IMHO, $220 is inexpensive, if you DIY.
